Costa Rica – Part 1: Coffee Plantation

In early December, I had the good fortune to be able to go on a yoga retreat with my yoga studio in Costa Rica. It was pretty rainy off and on, but that just made for better pictures as everything was so green. Our first “excursion” was across the street to a local coffee plantation. I never thought about what coffee looked like pre-roasting, and I was surprised to find it came from buds on plants that turn from green to red when ready to be picked. It was pouring rain for the most part, but I liked the effect of the fog in the background and love how the pictures turned out. The next day we stopped by another one in the bright daylight so I got the best of both worlds. At that place, I enjoyed playing with the framing/focus, contrasting the brightness of the flowers to the lush green fields.
