One day I set out to venture for some hikes and headed for Hawksbill Trail. I had visited a few too many breweries the day before so when google sent to me the absolute wrong location and it took me nearly two hours to find this trailhead, I wasn’t the happiest. Then I found out the trailhead was on a super isolated gravel road w/ a broke down van that was clearly someone’s home that I heard the door open to as I parked. As a female hiking alone, I quickly sent my parent’s a “safety” e-mail and hustled to find the trail. It was worth it! The fews were incredible and I eventually saw some others. (I am also pretty sure the inhabitant of the van found my sunglasses I had dropped in my hurry and nicely placed them on my car.) I then drove along the blue ridge parkway to my next hike and stopped at several of the lookouts along the way.
