I mentioned in the initial post Summit Adventure Workshop Part 1: Overview, Treetop Adventure, and Mountain Biking that we had the weather play some tricks on us. It cancelled the whitewater rafting trip the day we were supposed to do it, but thankfully we were able to fit it in the next day. It was definitely the highlight of the trip! It was just so fun to spend the afternoon on the water, and we had some really cool people to photograph. One kid, Nate, was 10 and is already kayaking class 5 rapids! He was just such a good spirit too. Another theme of the photographer’s stories was to get in with the athlete’s that have a chance of becoming something. He is definitely one to watch!
We had fun asking the athletes to do cool tricks and the scenery was fantastic. I took over 1,000 photos, and Corey Rich made me feel less self conscious when he said he would have taken 4,000! It was hard to get great shots, with the fast pace and needing to focus/freeze the shot in ever changing light. I ended up with some pretty cool shots.
Also, at the beginning, we got a quick chance to take some fly fishing photos with the Nikon rep. I really wish we could have done that at sunrise or sunset, but that will have to wait for another day.
