The photo safari I signed up for technically started Tuesday night, but given a large contingent arrived Monday evening, the guides (Kristi Odom and Darren Gustaveson) graciously arranged a “bonus day” to see the baby elephant feeding at the Sheldrake Elephant and Rhino Sanctuary and the giraffes at the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi. They were definitely the most touristy thing we (hopefully) will do, but gave a great chance to see a baby rhino, orphaned elephants, and giraffes up close and personal. Because of the crowds, I really enjoyed using my telephoto lens to get some great up close shots. I also loved using my regular lens to capture the playful nature of the baby elephants. My favorite is when one just sat right on top of the other!
If this was the starter, I am really excited to see what great stuff this workshop brings. I am also really looking forward to the teaching/classes after listening to Kristi/Darren talk about what type of workshops they were putting into it and what they want us to get out of the experience.
